Workshop

The CSMA Junior section proposes a junior workshop ahead of the congress. It will take place remotely from Thursday January 7 to Friday January 8, 2021.

This workshop aims at:

  • making a young generation of researchers meet and exchange,
  • introducing the themes of the congress by providing some basis about them,
  • proposing original activities such as online practical sessions, hackathon, ....

Therefore, the workshop is:

  • only for WCCM-ECCOMAS 2020 participants,
  • limited to 150 participants,
  • free of any additional fees.

The junior workshop is now full (the limit number of participants has been reached). Please consider that any new registration won't be taken into account.

Scientific program

Courses

Courses in the form of a 30min class + 90min practical sessions will be proposed on the following topics:

Each participant can attend 4 of these courses; he/she can choose using the registration form.

Special sessions

We propose two special sessions to discuss other aspects of research:

  • Scientific publications and Open Science
Dr. Vladislav Yastrebov, research scientist at MINES Paris & CNRS and a co-creator of the first overlay journal in mechanics JTCAM will present the modern publication landscape and will animate a discussion on Open Science, different Open Access options, data and code share, etc.
  • Ethics in science
This session will be presented by Sylvie Pommier, full professor at ENS Paris-Saclay, who led the construction of the structure Polethis at University Paris-Saclay.

Hackathon

A 24h worldwide hackathon will be organized to challenge the participants on their coding skills. Multinational teams will be created to solve a problem that will contribute (or not) to save the world from the current sanitary crisis! A shared coding platform will be proposed to the candidates to facilitate teamworking.
